FAQ

+ What is Pilates?

Pilates is a physical system which was created by German anatomist Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century. Through a series of precise, controlled movements it targets all muscle groups in the body whilst working on posture, functionality and flexibility.

It’s also one of the ultimate mindful training practices, aiding stress and anxiety relief through focus on the breathing which is one of the key principles of Pilates.

+ Should I do Reformer Pilates?

Pilates is suitable for everyone over the age of 16. We do ask you to arrive early for your first class so the instructor can familiarise you with the machine and show you some moves.

You know your body best, so you can take ownership of your exercise. If something doesn’t feel right please let us know and we’ll give you modifications.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your personal condition, please feel free to drop into the studio for a chat or give us a call. We are always happy to help!

+ Do you have showers?

We do not have showers at Core Flex, but depending on the class, you shouldn't get too sweaty! Pilates is less cardio and more strength training. If you want to freshen up after class, we provide organic spray deodorant, plus dry shampoo to use in our spacious changing rooms.

+ Do you have lockers?

We have seven lockers in the studio in which you can store your personal possessions securely for the duration of your class.

+ How do I book?

Please visit our booking or schedule pages to login/register, purchase class credits and you can then book into classes.

+ How does your waitlist work?

When a class is full, you can book yourself onto the waitlist and will recieve an email confirmation. If you are on the waitlist please expect to attend class. You will be placed into the class up to 12 hours before the start time of class and notified if you get a space.

+ What do I wear?

We suggest you use grippy socks on the reformers. These will help you position your feet for certain exercises. While grippy socks aren’t compulsory for hygiene reasons we ask that you please wear socks during class.

Wear clean soft and stretchy clothing so you can move freely. And please avoid wearing clothing with exposed zips as they can damage the machinery.

+ How long are the classes?

All of our classes are 50 minutes long. We always try to finish promptly and fit in some stretching. Through many years experience, we have found 50 minutes to be optimal time for focus, efficiency and a great workout.

+ Do you provide water?

We have filtered water on tap and sell a small selection of cold drinks at reception.
